Development, Entrepreneurship, Technology and Innovation.

I am not very sure that my expression does justice about the value proposition of Entrepreneurship and Innovation I was trying to pass to my audience.
Although, I believe absolutely in the cliché that ‘’Research is the bedrock of knowledge and discovery’’, The outcome most of which have created policies that impact lives . Trust me asides researching for a degree, I often like to create time to unravel and pen down key issues for action and development. But on the spectrum, I prefer to be practical rather than theoretical; engaging on the field with development work. Besides that, putting together personally, innovations that have social impact while making profit.
As an entrepreneur, owning a business has not been rosy. Believe me there are times where I hit the rock bottom; business has faced hard times. There are times that I went literally “BROKE”. I mean penniless to even cover the overhead cost of business. I have had to reach out to friends and colleagues for support and assistance, and even though ‘some’’ of my efforts fell through, I am glad I could tap into the many advantages of Technology and get back on with support from friends.
The Tech space is a very creative industry for youths to unleash their potential for growth. According to statistics by NCC, Technology contributed 56% to Nigeria’s GDP in the 3rd and last quarter of 2018. Far above the contribution of oil to Nigeria’s economy. This statistics is a pointer to the promising potential of ICT in taking the place of oil. Nations are beginning to realize that investing in infrastructure is not enough ,for a nation to truly be in the IT mainstream , it must invest in its precious resources-People. (Human capital development). But as you know Development isn’t Development until it is all inclusive. Everyone including Women and Girls must participate.
Technology is gradually taking its place as the main lubricant of our economy , and as such youths must take advantage of this to incubate ideas, take responsibility for the ideas and convert them into something that provides enormous social value. This is why as a nation, we cannot undervalue the importance of bridging the skill gap of technology in our today’s graduates.
Get the skill, Incubate what area of your skill set u want to leverage on in creating value and meeting social need, If possible begin a Tech start up. Thank you.
See This……
“While no nation inhabited by people can be short of creativity, innovation tends to emerge where the value of creativity is favourably perceived, with a high degree of freedom to set one’s own agenda, where creative talents are better organized through business and supported by institutions, and where competition encourages and, most importantly, rewards creativity and entrepreneurship’’_ UNIDO
Looking forward to the Girls in ICT Day.
